Tree-ring width data from Callitris intratropica have been show to record variation in the Australian monsoon. However, tree-ring widths are affected by a host of non-climatic stimuli. Variations in the concentration of stable C and H isotopes within tree-ring series are more directly linked to plant physiology and may provide a more detailed record of climatic variability. This project will test this possibility by developing and analysing tree-ring chronologies comprising tree-ring width and stable isotopic data
