Fenner PhD/MPhil scholars collaborate with world-renowned academic leaders in a wide range of topics spanning the environment and society, including conservation biology, landscape ecology, interdisciplinary environmental studies, sustainability science, global change, environmental policy and economics, forest science and geography.
Fenner scholars can use specialised field studies equipment; gain survey/experimental design and analysis advice from the Statistical Consulting Unit; receive training at the Research Skills and Training Division; learn valuable teaching skills from giving undergraduate tutorials and demonstrations; attend numerous seminars in and outside Fenner; and help in our self-governance, including representation on the Fenner School Board.
You would be encouraged to attend our annual PhD and MPhil retreat outside Canberra. Led by scholars and invited academics in a fun bush environment, you explore essential skills for getting the most out of your higher degree research experience.
As a Fenner School scholar you would be supervised by a panel of experts from Fenner, other ANU centres of excellence, and organisations like CSIRO, other research centres, and government departments.
