1-2pm, in Fenner School's Forestry Lecture Theatre
City-Planning and Climate Change
Peter Rickwood,
PhD Scholar,
Design, Architecture and Building, University of Technology Sydney
Abstract
Energy used for personal transportation and energy used in
private residential dwellings contribute a signficant proportion
of Australia's greenhouse emissions. City-planning affects
both of these indirectly, by influencing what housing and
transport infrastructure gets built, and where. I will give a quick
background on what we know about urban structure and
greenhouse emissions, provide some broad details of the
modelling approach used, and, using Sydney's "City of Cities" planning policy as an anchoring example, show results for
alternate city plans.
The Fenner School Seminar Series is held in the Forestry Lecture Theatre
Forestry Building 48, Linnaeus Way (comes off Daley Road), ANU
The seminar will start at 13:00 and finish at 14:00
