World food security is primarily dependent on having viable agriculture. We are studying the development of sustainable farming practices involving different grazing and cropping practices that are critical for viable agriculture. The role of climate variability on these farming practices is part of these studies.
We are also developing methods for the successful integration of sound scientific knowledge into the management of our environment, including our landscapes, forests and soils. The study of the sequestration of atmospheric carbon into soils and biomass underpins much of our research.
