Forests & woodland

Humans have been relying on forests and forest-based resources since before the first records were created.

Consequently, humans have been involved in adapting to the forest as well as adapting it meet their needs. Throughout the ages, forests have provided shelter, fuel and food as well as spiritual and physiological benefits.

Some species have been advantaged by human adaptations while others have been disadvantaged as forests have spread and contracted across the face of the earth and been incorporated into our history; our myths; our farms and our industries.
