ANU offers graduate coursework programs in Forestry to degree-focussed and professional development students. Our Forestry program:

  • is part of the National Forestry Masters Program which connects our students to the staff, students and resources of partner universities around Australia
  • draws on the breadth and strengths of courses relevant to forests and their management, in both the natural and social sciences, in the Fenner School and across ANU
  • is delivered partly in intensive mode, as well as in conventional on-campus mode. Students can take courses from ANU and partner universities
  • can be taken full- or part-time, or as single professional development courses
  • encourages internships and research projects with forest sector partners in business, government, and community organizations
  • complements and connects to our other graduate coursework programs in Environment and in Geographical Sciences and others at ANU
  • provides a pathway to professional recognition through the Institute of Foresters of Australia

Australian students enrolling in the National Forestry Masters Program are eligible for travel scholarships to travel to the partner universities for joint core courses and partnership offerings

Annual scholarships will be in the order of $3,500 for full time students, and up to $1000 for those studying part time. Depending on demand, their allocation may be competitive based on performance or need, but students may qualify in each of their study years. These scholarships are generously provided by government agencies such as the Department of Education, Science and Training, industry members and private donors.

Read more about our graduate degree programs in our Factsheet and Handbook and at the ANU Graduate Coursework and search the Science Programs pages.
