Scholarships for Postgraduate research students

Australian Postgraduate Awards
Australian and New Zealand students are eligible for Australian Postgraduate Awards, which are awarded competitively in The Australian National University. See the University's Graduate pages for more details. You need to begin by contacting prospective supervisors. Contact SRES' Graduate Advisor, Dr Richard Greene, with any questions.
Closing dates 31 October 2006 (for 2007 Semester 1) and 30 May 2007 (for mid-year entry). Late applications may be accepted.
Scholarships for international students
Scholarships available to international students vary with the students country of origin. Prospective students should review the relevant ANU Graduate Research School, IDP Australia and AusAID scholarship websites.
Rural Research and Development Scholarships
The Forest and Wood Products, Land and Water and Rural Industries Research and Development Corporations each provide research scholarships for Australian students. Visit their websites for more information.
Bushfire CRC Scholarships
There are exciting opportunities to undertake Honours and PhD projects in the University's bushfire research program, part of the Bushfire CRC's project on managing bushfire risk in a changing world; see the research outline and scholarship information for more details.
CRC for Forestry
Top-up scholarships are available at the Australian National University in three of the CRC for Forestry research programmes -Managing and Monitoring for Growth and Health; High-Value Wood Resources; and Trees in the Landscape. More about CRC Top-up scholarships (PDF, 227KB)

Scholarships for Masters by coursework students

*New* Anthony and Barbara Brookman Graduate Coursework Forestry Scholarship
Students beginning graduate coursework in Forestry in 2008 are eligible for a $5000 scholarship drawn from the Anthony and Barbara Brookman Forestry Education and Research Fund. Awardees will be expected to participate in the National Forestry Masters Program during their study.

Some scholarships are also available to particular students for particular programs:
*New* Anthony and Barbara Brookman Undergraduate Forestry Scholarship
Students beginning or transferring into a BSc(Forestry) single or joint degree in 2008 are eligible for a $2500 scholarship from the Anthony and Barbara Brookman Forestry Education and Research Fund.

FWPRDC Indigenous Forestry Scholarship
The Forest and Wood Products Research and Depvelopment Corporation (FWPRDC) has established an undergraduate scholarship in support of the Council of Australian Governments‚ (COAG) framework to advance indigenous reconciliation. The scholarship will fund an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student to complete an undergraduate course leading to a degree in forestry at an Australian university. The scholarship will cover Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) fees for the duration of the course. The scholarship is only available for students who have been accepted to study at an Australian university offering a degree course in forestry, commencing in the 2007 academic year. See PDF (43KB)

Green Triangle Forest Products (Engineering and Forestry) Scholarships
Green Triangle Forest Products are seeking expressions of interest from engineering and forestry students to gain a $5000 annual scholarship at the operations of the Mt Gambier based company. In addition to thepayment of the scholarship amount, there would also be 8 weeks of paid vacation employment. More about Green Triangle scholarships (PDF, 121KB)
BRS Summer Scholarships
Each year, the Bureau of Rural Sciences offers up to eight summer scholarships to ANU students. The scholarships offer a meaningful piece of work related to the student's interests and BRS' work, introduce students to the unique scientific environment at BRS, and provide them with opportunities to make linkages to clients and departmental staff. Preference will be given to later year undergraduates who are considering Honours in the subject area. Scholarships are advertised in September; applications close in October. Scholarships for Honours students

Honours students are eligible for university-wide Honours scholarships, and for some scholarships with more restricted availability. See the list at the ANU Scholarships webpage

 
ACTION Trust Scholarships
Two scholarships of $A3,000 each is available for one year to full-time students enrolled in a course of study leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor with Honours in a field offered by the School of Resources, Environment & Society. Contact us for more information.

Country Women's Association Honours Scholarship
The Scholarship is awarded to a female student with the best results in a degree offered by the Faculty of Science who will proceed to Honours in BOZO, BAMBI, Forestry, Geography or Geology. Contact us for more information.
Curly Humphreys Scholarship for Forest Operations
This scholarship of $5000, made available through the generosity of Curly Humphreys and Hazel Cutlack, supports a student to work in the broad area of forest operations. Contact us for more information.
Other Honours scholarships
