Dr Jon Lewis

Prior to joining ANU as an Honorary Fellow, Jon Lewis worked as an industrial microbiologist in the wine, food and pharmaceutical industries. In the pharmaceutical industry he built, validated and managed TGA and FDA licenced microbiology facilities, as well as TGA approved clean rooms.
After moving to the Southern Tablelands, Jon worked for the Commonwealth Government in international science cooperation, and funding of scientific research infrastructure through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy.
Jon's PhD from the University of New England was in the area of microbial physiology and stress response, examining industrial baking strains of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Currently Jon is working on;
- ant community ecology at Mulligan's Flat and Goorooyaroo nature reserves in the ACT with Dr Philip Barton
- plant community ecology in Southern Tablelands woodland, forest and grassland with Dr Sue McIntyre
- taxonomy of Anonychomyrma and Papyrius ants
