Designing a global drought and crop production information system

Biophysical model-based approaches offer the possibility of comprehensive and mutually consistent forecasts. However because forecasts that are probabilistic have continuous spatial coverage and can be provided for a range of lead times, a key challenge is to reduce the information to interpretable dimensions. Literature review and new web dissemination approaches will be developed to increase the societal of such forecasts.

This project is in collaboration with Prof. Eric Wood and Dr Justin Sheffield (Princeton University).

Candidates should have some experience with scripting languages and programming. A scholarship may be available.
