Ayoob Karami received the B.S. degree in Environmental Sciences, with a specific focus on the application of remote sensing and spatial analysis from Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran, in 2010, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Tarbiat Modares University, Iran.

He was with Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad Regional Water Authority from 2014 to 2015, where he won awards for his Research in the Drought Monitoring project which was a part of Iran’s Drought monitoring (national project).

His Ph.D. thesis has focused on the downscaling of soil moisture using radar and radiometer observations in order to provide an accurate and high-resolution soil moisture product with potential benefit in the areas of catchment runoff modeling, and hydrological data assimilation activities.

From March to Oct 2018, he was a Visiting Research Student with the Department of Water and Landscape Dynamic group (WALD), Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, Australia. Currently, he starts working as a research assistant with the Water and Landscape Dynamic group at Australian National University.

His research interests include microwave remote sensing of soil moisture and soil moisture downscaling and using Machin learning in downscaling.
