Academic Skills Workshop - Managing your Reading

Are you buried in literature as you work on your thesis proposal? This workshop examines the tools and strategies to help you to manage, organise and categorise your literature more effectively, which will help you refine your research topic and question.

Preparation work: Before the workshop, please select a reading that you are currently using and be prepared
to discuss it in the workshop. As you are reading your chosen work, consider the following questions:
  • Why are you reading this article/chapter/report?
  • How does this reading relate to the broader academic debates in your field?
  • Why will this work be relevant for your own thesis?
  • What is your critical evaluation of this work?

ANU Academic Skills helps students to develop the key academic skills and communication strategies that are foundational to all academic activity. They work with students across the university, from first year undergraduates to final year PhDs. This workshop is targeted specifically for higher degree research students in the Fenner School of Environment & Society.
