Fenner Seminar - Pathways to a Just Energy Transition: Changing the Narratives in Zambia

The concept of a just energy transition (JET) is gaining importance as we aim to reduce reliance on fossil fuels to combat climate change. It's not just about job losses in the fossil fuel sector; JET addresses broader issues like energy equity, poverty, and social inequalities. Daniel's research on Zambia's approach to JET, considering its status as a developing country, sheds light on how JET varies globally. By examining examples from countries like Canada, Germany, India, Indonesia, and South Africa, his study underscores the need for JET initiatives to align with local needs and development goals, highlighting the complex interplay between energy policies and socio-economic factors.
