Josh’s PhD research examines how extreme weather events influence climate change attitudes among the public and offers evidence-based strategies for effective climate change communication.

In this talk, he will provide an overview of his research, with a focus on his recent case study examining the effects of bushfire experiences on climate activism in Australia. He will also describe communication insights from the Talk Climate Change project – a student-led campaign that tracked interpersonal climate conversations among 1,000 people across 40 countries.

 

About the speaker

Josh Ettinger is a PhD candidate at the University of Oxford’s School of Geography and the Environment and a visiting scholar at the Monash University Climate Change Communication Research Hub. He previously worked in science communication roles at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Stockholm Environment Institute, and Global Canopy, as well as at the American television programme The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
