Four new $5000 Awards for students with interests in plantation forestry

Two parallel major new donations from HVP Plantations and the Kloeden Foundation, established by ANU Forestry graduate Adrian Kloeden and his family, enable ANU to offer four new $5000 awards for students with interests in plantation forestry. The Awards are accompanied by preferential access to HVP Plantations paid summer internships, working with HVP Plantations in Victoria.

This notice calls for the first (2022) round of applications, which are due on 12 September.
 

Eligibility

You are eligible for the HVP Plantations Award in 2022 if:

  • you are an Australian citizen of permanent resident;
  • you are an ANU undergraduate student in at least the 2nd year of your degree. Preference will be given to students enrolled in either the Bachelor of Environment & Sustainability or Bachelor of Science (and joint) degrees;
  • you have an interest in plantation forestry, and plan to work after graduation in the Australian forestry sector;
  • you expect to be available to accept a HVP summer internship in 2022/23.

 

You are eligible for a Kloeden Foundation Award in 2022 if:

  • you are an ANU domestic or international student;
  • you are an ANU undergraduate student in at least the 2nd year of your degree, or an ANU Masters student. Preference will be given to undergraduate students enrolled in either the Bachelor of Environment & Sustainability or Bachelor of Science (and joint) degrees, and graduate students enrolled in the Master of Forestry or Master of Environment degrees;
  • you have an interest in plantation forestry, and plan to work after graduation in the Australian forestry sector;
  • you expect to be available to accept a HVP summer internship in 2022/23.

 

Applications

Applications should comprise:

  • a covering letter, including a statement of 100-200 words of your interest in and motivation for the Award, and your career plans. Your covering letter should state for which Award(s) you are applying, and your availability to accept a HVP summer internship;
  • a curriculum vitae;
  • a copy of your academic record.

 

Applications should be emailed to fses.coursework.enquiries@anu.edu.au, with the subject line “[HVP} and/or [Kloeden] Award Application” by 9am Monday 12 September. Late applications may not be accepted.

 

Selection and presentation of Awards

Awardees will be selected by an ANU committee. A presentation of the Awards will be made by the donors at 12pm 28 September, at ANU.
