The Fenner School of Environment & Society is looking for a Research Fellow and a Senior Research Officer to join a program on Greater Gliders and their habitat.
Research Fellow

Position overview
You will conduct an exciting new research project focussing on Greater Gliders. You will work on spatial predictions of key refugia for Greater Gliders, investigate the major drivers of population decline, instigate best-practice habitat restoration and population recovery practices for the species, oversee the establishment of a set of important new empirical experiments and other studies, and develop a set of management recommendations that promote the medium to long-term conservation of the Greater Glider. You will actively engage with communities, citizen scientists and Traditional Owners to develop partnerships to benefit the research effort and conservation measures for the Greater Glider.
Applications are invited from individuals who can deliver field-based empirical research with an emphasis on practical habitat management and population conservation solutions. The position is based in Canberra but the you will spend time in forests across the three research regions in Victoria conducting studies and experiments, working in close collaboration with a full-time field research officer.
The Research Fellow reports to Professor David Lindenmayer, and will work closely with project staff within the university, along with external partners in government land management agencies.

Senior Research Officer

Position overview
You will work in the forests of the Central Highlands, East Gippsland and Strathbogie Ranges in Victoria, contributing to an exciting new research project focussing on Greater Glider populations, habitat, conservation and management. The project will support and inform Victorian Government management plans and actions in relation to Greater Gliders and their habitat. You will plan and conduct empirical field studies and experiments, collect high quality biophysical data, and establish and maintain extensive datasets relating to arboreal mammals, vegetation, habitat elements and microclimate. You will be involved in data analysis and contribute to publications. You will actively engage with communities, citizen scientists and Traditional Owners to develop partnerships to benefit the research effort and conservation measures for the Greater Glider.
Applications are invited from individuals who love to work outdoors conducting habitat experiments and biodiversity surveys, and who can manage all aspects of field-based research. You will spend the majority of your time working independently in the field across the three research regions.
The Senior Research Officer reports to Professor David Lindenmayer, and will work closely with project staff within the university, along with external partners in government land management agencies.
