About

Jency Maria Sojan is pursuing her PhD at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, ANU, with a focus on extreme humid heat events. Her research aims to quantify the health risks associated with future climate scenarios and assess the effectiveness of adaptation strategies. This work aims to enhance climate resilience planning and policy development, aiding in the mitigation of extreme heat impacts on vulnerable populations. Prior to this, Jency worked as a researcher at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, analysing spatiotemporal patterns of extreme humid heat stress across India. Jency holds a master's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati, specialising in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. Her other research interests include compound heat extremes, extreme hydrological events, and applications of remote sensing and GIS.
