About

Nani is engaged in her doctoral studies at The Fenner School of Environment & Society, focusing her research on the governance of water resources in small island scenarios, especially in relation to Ternate Island in North Maluku, Indonesia. Through her research, she aims to discover comprehensive methods for groundwater conservation and to implement adaptive water management practices that enhance water security. Nani is committed to fostering resilience and educating local communities on sustainable water resource planning on small islands by addressing challenges such as freshwater shortages, rapid population growth, and climate-induced disasters. Her objective is to deliver practical, science-based solutions.

Nani also holds a position as a senior lecturer in the Civil Engineering Study Program at Khairun University in Indonesia, with more than twenty years of experience in water resources management and environmental engineering. She earned her master's degree in Infrastructure Engineering Design from Hasanuddin University. In addition, she has played a pivotal role in conducting feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, solid waste management, and advancing water resource development projects in collaboration with government agencies and international partners. Her academic and leadership roles underscore her unwavering commitment to promoting education and community-centered environmental initiatives across Indonesia.
