About
Stephanie is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Water Futures. Her current research, based in the southern Murray Darling Basin, is exploring how to build critical and creative futures thinking to improve water governance and enable transformative adaptation. She has used transdisciplinary, action-based and reflexive methods to facilitate participatory activities with water governance professionals and community members to explore water futures using imagination, provocation and reflection. As part of her project, she curated the exhibition: The Museum of Future Water. In 2024, she was awarded an inaugural Victorian Hub Drought Resilience Scholarship to support her research.
Prior to her PhD, Stephanie worked as an educator, project manager and program coordinator across schools, cultural institutions and natural resource management organisations. For 14 years she designed and delivered learning programs, resources and participatory experiences in Museums and was a committee member for the State and National Education Networks for the Australian Museum and Galleries Association. In 2020, she received a Women’s Board Leadership Program Scholarship from the Victorian Government and completed a Foundations of Directorship Course with the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2021.
More recently Stephanie has worked in Catchment Management, leading a team and projects spanning Sustainable Agriculture, Landcare and Waterway Citizen Science. In 2022 she undertook a research project with ANU to understand the perspective of futures and foresight practitioners on the role of futures thinking in water management.
