Depi is an Indonesian PhD scholar at Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Australian National University.
Supervised by Professor Peter Kanowski, her PhD research will be focused on forest policy and governance particularly in timber legality verification in Indonesian market chains.
She received the degree of Bachelor of Forestry at Gadjah Mada University, in 2007. Her first research topic was a phenomenology study which analysed the social institution regeneration related to community forest development in Indonesia. Afterwards, she completed a Master of Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) in the Netherlands in 2013. Her Master thesis was aimed at evaluating the implementation of Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System (Indo-TLAS), commonly known as SVLK, in the verified community forests in Java Island.
Before she started her PhD in February 2016, Depi has been working with international projects which collaborated with MFP3, UK-AID, RECOFTC, GIZ and SNV Netherlands. Her expertise is related to timber legality verification, forest certification, sustainable forest management, and forestry entrepreneurship development.
