Weichi is a PhD student at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, commencing in November 2025. He holds a Master’s degree in Zoology from Peking University and a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Nature Reserve Management (Wetland Science) from Northeast Forestry University.

His previous research examined the coexistence mechanisms between wild ungulates and free-ranging livestock through the lens of niche theory. For his doctoral studies, Weichi will apply niche theory to the field of bird conservation. Outside of his research, he is an avid birdwatcher who travels globally to observe birds in their natural habitats.
