About

Honours / Masters(Adv) project available analysing regional drought resilience plans in collaboration with CSIRO and the Australian Government.

‘Building resilience’ is frequently an objective for local government planning, especially in agricultural regions, but strategies often don’t distinguish between creating diverse, future options, and maintaining or enhancing existing systems (e.g., maintaining current farming systems). This project will analyse regional drought resilience plans, possibly supported by interviews with planners and policymakers. The project aims to promote a broader view of resilience planning, based on an options or pathway diversity perspective. A pathway diversity view of resilience (Lade et al. 2019) associates resilience with having a diversity of options that enable absorptive, adaptive and transformative capacities.
