PhD candidate position available on ARC Linkage zero-emission vehicle adoption policy project

An opportunity exists for a PhD scholar to join and work on an awarded ARC linkage project. The candidate will be co-supervised by project leads: Distinguished Professor Xuemei Bai, Dr Yuan Peng, Dr Reza Fazeli, and Dr Hedda Ransan-Cooper.

The overall project aims to devise effective policy mixes and sequences to inform policymakers on the process of zero-emission vehicle adoption policy development, adjustment, and implementation in Australian cities. Taking Canberra as a case study, it intends to understand and integrate diverse stakeholder perspectives into policy processes, and explore the synergies and trade-offs among multiple goals and measures, to inform and enhance the policy goals and interventions occurring across time scales and sectors. Expected outcomes include a framework to co-design policy measures and incentive structures for shared learning in Australia and globally. This should contribute to both urban mitigation and the incubation of new business ecosystems.

Successful applicants will have an opportunity to work with various stakeholders from governments, industries, and NGOs, building up their professional networks. More importantly, the students will be supervised by a group of outstanding researchers across disciplines on urban sustainability and energy transition.

We seek candidates who have:

1) excellent English writing skills;

2) experience in advanced statistical analysis, using R, Python, or MatLab;

3) general knowledge of urban sustainability transition, energy transition, EV adoption policies and market, and other green technologies;

4) a keen interest in and passion for research on urban climate mitigation, energy transition, sustainable development.
