Resilient Human And Planetary Systems

We are a research group at the Fenner School of Environment & Society, led by Dr Steven Lade. We research human and planetary systems using concepts such as resilience, social-ecological systems and Earth systems with applications in water resource management, sustainable finance and more.

About

We are the Resilient Human And Planetary Systems (RHAPS) research group. We develop strategies and tools for building the resilience of people and the planet. Our work spans diverse systems of humans and nature, including water resources, agriculture, finance and government, at scales from local to global. We specialise in modeling and integrating mathematical methods with insights from multiple disciplines, bridging science, policy and practice. We value diversity, and we believe lasting solutions to social-ecological challenges emerge from collaboration, creativity and a deep understanding of complex systems.

We work in close collaboration with institutions including the ANU Institute for Water Futures, the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions, the Stockholm Resilience Centre, and the University of New South Wales.
